Limelight — Making lab-grown diamonds easy to browse, and easy to find in store

Limelight is India's largest lab-grown diamond jeweller, with 85+ stores across 45+ cities. On KLoc's redesign of its website, the homepage and product page were designed by a colleague. I designed everything around them: the collection page, the sitemap and content plan, and the pages for finding a store, getting answers and reading the blog.

Where we started

Before designing, I read the live site page by page so nothing the client relied on would get lost in the move.

310live pages read: content, stores, articles and policies
30pages in the new sitemap, with 153 sections
391pieces of the client's copy carried over, none missing

The collection page

The client liked CaratLane's ring listing best, for its layout and how it works, and asked that nothing from the live site go missing.

Shop by ring typeSeven ring types up front, from daily wear and solitaires to men's and couple bands, under a calm, centred heading.
Quick ways inChips for fast delivery, latest designs, store pickup and try at home sit above the grid, with sort beside the filters.
More contemporaryAfter the first round the client asked for a more contemporary feel, so the cards became cleaner, price first, four across, with accordion filters and a price slider.
Filters that fitPrice, carat, purity, who it's for and ring size: the filters people use, without the long tail.

A more contemporary feel

Version 2 led with a full-width banner and price-first cards. Version 3, the final one, drops the banner and leads with ring types.

The sitemap

The plan went through rounds of cutting, from 68 pages to 30, with every page's sections written out. It adds three new pages: a ring and size guide, order tracking and today's gold rate. Ideas that would need a new service rather than a new page, like a savings plan, stayed out.

Finding a store

Pick a state, then a city: one store opens with its details while the rest wait as a list, and Schedule a visit stays in reach. On Contact us, View on map fades the form away and brings the map into focus in place.

Answers and reading

The FAQ keeps to the client's own questions, grouped so Know Your Diamond comes first. Policies follow the footer's groups, with long ones folded into accordions. Annual reports are downloads, and the blog filters by topic.

How I worked, with Claude

Claude was part of my process from the first read of the site to the final check. I set the direction and made the design calls.

Reading the siteClaude helped me go through the live site page by page, so the sitemap started from everything that exists today.
Working prototypesFrom my mockups and references, Claude built clickable pages, so the client could try the filters, the store finder and the map rather than imagine them.
Nothing lostA final check matched every piece of the client's copy against the new pages: 391 out of 391.
What stays mineThe layouts, the cuts to the sitemap and what to leave out.

On mobile

Filters in a drawer, ring types and states in rows you swipe, and the map one tap away.
